Washing machine sounds like it’s struggling and it only has one towel in
This is the washing machine I have! It all started 8 months-1 year after I got this damn thing! I had a basic bush washer for a few years previous, and never had a problem.

Hi there. It's very short, but I can't hear anything wrong to be honest. If you only have one towel inside, then the motor will not run smoothly. It will need more force to start turning the drum, but then when the towel gets to the top, the drum will virtually free when half a revolution with the weight of the towel. The whole thing will repeat, giving the motor a laboured sound as the electronics struggle to work out how much power to give it.
I would suggest putting in enough towels to fill the drum at least halfway up and see how that sounds in comparison. Or a full load of mixed laundry.
