MOVED HOUSE-WASHING MACHINE HELP
Hello,
I am moving house and I'll be honest have never installed a washing machine before! In my new house it looks as though there is a big grey pipe which I think would be the waste pipe. When I look at my current washing machine it has a much smaller grey waste pipe which runs under the sink and connects to the pipes under there. My question is-how do connect my small waste pipe to the larger one at my new home? Thank you

Hi. You just push the smaller pipe down the pipe. However, you should only push it about 5 inches down and you need the small plastic shepherds crook on the end of the drain hose to stop the hose falling out.

There is a very crude drawing that I did showing the drain hose pushing into a standpipe, and also a photo of the shepherds crook on this page - Washing machine fills and drains at the same time

If you don't know what I mean by the Shepherd's crook, look at the picture here - WASHING MACHINE DRAIN HOSE
The drain hose end should be inserted into the plastic part so that it forces the drain hose into a shepherd's crook. I would have about 4 inches of the end of the drain hose sticking out. That 4 or 5 inches is pushed into the grey plastic standpipe.
