Retaining ring fell out of doorway gasket

A retaining ring has fallen out of the gasket against which the loading door closes, and I cannot see exactly where it should be re-fitted.

The wire ring is about 13" diameter, with a 2" spring incorporated.

The machine is a 5-year-old Bosch WAN.

Where should the ring be fitted ?

And can I use the machine without the ring ?

Hi. It holds the door seal onto the rim of the door frame. There should be a very thin groove that it fits in to.

The spring should make the metal ring so tight that it needs a screwdriver to force it around the door seal and door rim. Then the spring should hold the the metal ring on tight.

Got it back in position, thanks !

But the spring seems to hang loosely at the bottom.

Shouldn't the ring grip the gasket all round ? Could the spring need replacing ?
