Washing Machine Touch Pad
Installed the above in June 2021, ( Zanussi ZWF7254B4PW) it has a rotary programme selector switch plus 4 or 5 touch selections for Stop/Start, Temperature, Spin Speed, Delayed Start etc. I have to get a hair dryer and direct hot air onto the panel or a minute or less to get these to respond (every 3 months or so) apart from the Stop/Start which allways works consistently. The machine is in a unheated garage. Is this a common occurance?.

Hello John. I couldn't say if there is a common fault on these touchpads, as I have not had anyone else mention a problem with them.
It is possible that the very cold temperatures in a garage can adversely affect appliances. Maybe something is contracting and no longer connecting or working properly. Heating it up directly appears to strongly imply that.
Unfortunately, garages are not a great place to have a washing machine. Make sure your pipework is all fully insulated too. My washing machine has always been in our garage, and about 10 years ago the water tap froze and popped off. When the water thawed out, it flooded our entire garage.

Hi John. It looks like it definitely related to temperature. Something must be contracting and losing contact when it gets really cold.

Found out that placing the palm of my hand across the keypad for 5 secs or so works as well, temp adjacent to the keypad is ~ 12.5C just now.
The stop/start is not part of the above so thats why i never had a problem with it even though its still a touch key.
