Hotpoint Aristo WMG 823B EU.C bearing and seal availability query

The problem
The owner of a Hotpoint Aristo WMG 823B EU.C wanted the dimensions of the drum bearings and seal in order to replace them.
Likely cause
No appliance fault diagnosis was discussed. The main issue raised was parts availability: modern washing machines often do not list drum bearings and seals separately, with the outer drum or rear drum half supplied instead.
What fixed it
The accepted advice was that separate bearing and seal dimensions are often not available for modern machines. The recommended route was to check a washing machine spares supplier or contact the manufacturer to confirm whether the bearings and seals are available separately. If not, the rear half of the outer drum, or the complete drum assembly, may be the service part. Using generic bearings without the correct replacement seals was discouraged. The exact repair was not confirmed.
Checks to try
  • Check whether the drum is supplied complete with bearings and seals fitted
  • Check whether the outer drum comes in two halves with the rear half containing the bearings and seals
  • Check a washing machine spares supplier for model-specific parts availability
  • Contact the manufacturer to confirm whether separate bearings and seals are available
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Complete drum assembly
  • Rear half of the outer drum
  • Drum bearings
  • Seal

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello there. Most washing machines now do not have spare parts for the drum bearings. The drum commonly comes complete bearings and seals fitted. Sometimes the outer drum will come in 2 halves, so to replace the bearings you have to strip the outer drum down, split it in half and replace the back half that contains the bearings and seals.

If the parts are available separately, you would find them on a washing machine spares site like Ransom Spares though this is a UK spares site. Alternatively you would have to try and contact the manufacturer. But sadly it is very difficult and often impossible to replace drum bearings on modern washing machines.

If you are just trying to source the bearings separately because you already know they are not available from the manufacturer then you would need a bearing company. It is possible to get bearings separately according to size but without replacement seals, especially the one that protects the drum bearings I would highly recommend against trying.
