Samsung WD8704RJA Washer Dryer Drum Not Spinning
I've checked the back to see if the drive belt had snapped only to realise there insnt one visible.
See pic.
The drum is very loose. It can be moved forward and backwards slightly and when I turn it with my hand there's friction. A bit crunchy-like.
I'm guessing there's a problem with the motor.
Here's an 'interesting' vid of the internals: DzVtWwrnnVI (put this code into google)

Samsung WD8704RJA washer dryer drum not spinning on direct-drive model
- The problem
- Samsung WD8704RJA washer dryer drum was not spinning. The owner found no visible drive belt, and reported the drum felt very loose, could move slightly forwards and backwards, and made a rough or crunchy sound when turned by hand.
- Likely cause
- The discussion indicates this is a direct-drive machine, so the lack of a visible belt is normal. The most strongly supported diagnosis was a fault in the drive system, possibly the motor, PCB controller, or wiring/connection between them. The exact failed part was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- Accepted advice was that there was nothing straightforward for the owner to try and that an engineer would be the best option. No completed repair was documented in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Owner checked the rear of the appliance for a snapped drive belt
- Owner noted the drum was loose with slight forward/backward movement
- Owner turned the drum by hand and felt friction with a crunchy noise
- Forum reply identified the model as direct drive, explaining why no belt was visible
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hi there. This looks like one of the direct drive washing machines, whereby the motor is built into the drum. So there isn't a drive belt. I don't think there's anything you can really try. You would probably be better getting engineer.

Thanks Andy,
Just assumed I'd be able to do something cause the guy in the video!
Might need a lug wrench πΆβπ«οΈ
Always worth looking into. But it's likely to either need a new motor, a new PCB controller, or it could even be something as silly as a faulty connection between the two. It's just not straightforward.
