Black Sludge in Washing Machine Filter
Hello everyone, I'm a student renting a house and the washing machine we have stopped spinning. I went to check the filter and it was filled with black sludge everywhere (I've attached a picture of the filter itself but warning it is quite gross). This has probably been there since the last tenants. I'd really like to know if there's anything I can do by myself other than ask my landlord for a replacement because we have other issues to sort as well. If it helps then the model is a Candy Grand O. Thanks!

That's nasty. It's unusual to get black sludge. If the washing machine is caked in it all inside it's sometimes impossible to clean it. You could try all the advice in this article How to clean inside washing machine
