Stuck on wash cycle.

I have a fully integrated indesit washer, BL WMIL 81485 uk.

On the 60° wash cycles, 6 and 10, the washer sticks on the wash cycle and won't rinse or spin, this cycle is never ending unless you manually switch off the machine.

It has had a new motherboard (after the drum weight bolts sheared 2 months after purchase and practically destroyed the macine on a spin cycle including the electrical harness which blew the original motherboard, all fixed under warranty)

However, the new motherboard also has the same problems with programmes 6 and 10.

Anyone else have the same problem? Is it a software problem with these motherboards?

It does sound possible that this is a control or programme issue, especially as it only affects specific cycles, but I wouldn’t assume the board is definitely faulty yet. If the machine will complete other washes normally, that helps narrow it down.

Before inspecting anything internal, isolate the appliance from the mains. Any internal electrical testing should be left to a qualified engineer.

1. Check whether it is actually heating on programmes 6 and 10 If the washer is waiting indefinitely, one common cause is that it isn’t reaching the target temperature. The timer can appear “stuck” on hotter washes if there’s a heater, thermostat/NTC, or wiring fault. If 30° or 40° cycles finish but 60° ones do not, that points strongly in that direction.

2. Note whether the drum ever drains before it gets stuck If it washes endlessly and never moves on to drain, it may be waiting for a heat or water-level signal. If it drains but won’t rinse/spin, then pressure system, drain issues, or control logic become more likely.

3. Check the filter and drain performance A partial blockage can confuse cycle progression. Make sure the pump filter is clear and that it pumps out strongly into the waste.

4. Ask Indesit to check for a software/configuration issue Because the machine had a replacement board, it is worth asking whether the module was correctly programmed for the exact WMIL 81485 UK variant. An incorrectly configured module can cause odd behaviour on selected programmes.

5. Check pressure chamber/pressure switch tubing If restricted with debris, the machine can misread water level and fail to advance correctly.

As it’s a built-in model and has already had major repair work, I’d be pushing Indesit or the warranty engineer to revisit it rather than living with it. The fault needs proper diagnosis, not just another board on guesswork.

Safety first — read before actioning advice

  • Never work on a live appliance

Always unplug it at the mains before going near it with any tools.

  • Never attempt gas work

By law, gas appliances must only be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If your fault involves gas, stop and call a professional — do not attempt it yourself.

  • Watch for sharp edges

Outer panels are smooth, but internal parts are full of sharp machined edges. Wear protective gloves and arm sleeves.

  • Water appliances can leak

Turn off the water supply before disconnecting any hoses.

  • Know your limits

If you're not confident testing or working inside the appliance, STOP and call a professional.
