Slamming Meile Washing Machine Door

Could be a couple of small issues here. The integrated door panel may be too heavy (least likely)or poorly fitted and is not aligning too well, also the hinge barrels on Miele's are deeper than most and they may not be fitting the door hinge cut outs too well, which will make it very difficult to close. Check these visually and consult the dealers/installers first if any doubts.

The integrated doors are usually a bit more difficult to close. Try closing the door by pushing the door firmly where the catch is, so all your effort is used in making the latch and lock meet. If you are just pushing the door for example at the top it will be difficult to get it to close easily.

Hello, I have recently bought a Miele W2839i integrated washing machine and i have to do exactly the same to get the door to shut! I have tried pushing it shut but that does not work so the only way to get it closed is to give it a good slam.

You are not alone, my wife cannot close the door of our brand new Miele Washing Machine W2819i. The door will close if you use brute force , but I am talking significant force the sort that could move the earth on its axis - not what you would expect when it comes to something as expensive as a Miele.

We have telephoned Miele three times and their view continues to be that the doors just need a good slam and that is that! Begrudgingly they are now sending out a technician but the reputation surrounding Miele has already become tarnished in our eyes whatever the outcome. Certainly the help desk "attitude" could be more helpful and the culture that comes across is one that sees the customer as the problem.

Anyway the technician comes out on 9th November (Comments like 'they first check it is plugged in safely' and that 'if we are not in when they call we have to pay a £60 charge' etc etc to be honest just alienate me) - we might be proved wrong and it will be interesting to find out what the problem is - even if it turns out that we are just physically too weak to use their Miele machines!

This video shows a Miele washing machine being subjected to a repeated door slam test. It shows how you can slam a Miele door to close it. If you can't get yours to slam shut as in this video there may be a problem that needs fixing.

Thanks Andy - I came to the conclusion that the thread fizzled out (or came to natural conclusion) due to the excellent 'this is how we slam' video that was posted by you - thank you
