Laid Washer Down Now It Doesn't Work

I have a John Lewis JLWD1409. When cleaning the pump filter I pulled the drain tube too far, so when I started a wash water poured from the bottom. I turned everything off, drained the machine, put it on its side and re-fixed the tube. When I put it up-right and started it made some funny noises and there were no lights or display. I realised that when I put the machine on it's side I had not taken out the fabric softener. I took the lid off and the front panel, dried everything with a hair drier. Put it all back together. Lights come on, buttons seem to work.

The problem is that whatever program I put it on when I press start it sprays some water from the top and the light display changes immediately to drain and after 10 seconds or so it switches off. Any suggestions?

Sounds like something may still be wet and shorting out. Laying a washing machine on its side if it has water in it can cause water to run into parts or it could be the fabric conditioner. If it hasn't dried out and fixed itself by now you need to get it looked at or replace it.
