Bosch Was28461Gb Soap Drawer Leak On Hot Washes
Hi,
I've a brand new Bosch WAS28461GB Logixx 8 that leaks from the soap draw (from both underneath and from the handle). It only seems to do this on 60 and 90 degree washes.
I've called Bosch twice. The first response "was the draw closed?". Er, YES. The second time I was advised to turn the inlet tap off a little to lower the water pressure. Didnt work, but in any case the installation manual says to have an inlet pressure of 1-10bar. My water pressure is 2.5bar.
The machine is levelled correctly. I cannot see any blockages (if I open the draw a little during fills, all 3 sections of the draw fill freely.
I can only assume its condensation from the hot washes. The entire underside of the draw if you remove it is wet/dripping. On 90deg washes especially, the handle area of the draw is normally very wet when you put your hand inside.
I cant help but feel this is a design flaw - and that the handle should be sealed from the inside of the draw (not just an open cut out) and a rubber seal around the draw edge too.
Is this "normal"? For a £500 machine, it doesnt seem normal or right to me. But if its a common thing I dont want to go through the hassle of returning it and getting another machine only to have the same problem. My 10yr old Bosch this replaced never did this.
Thanks,
Nick.

AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Bosch WAS28461GB soap drawer leaks on 60°C and 90°C washes
- The problem
- A brand new Bosch WAS28461GB Logixx 8 was reported to leak from the soap drawer, both underneath and around the handle area. The leak was said to occur only on 60°C and 90°C programmes, not generally on other fills.
- Likely cause
- No confirmed fault was identified. The strongest supported view in the discussion is that this is not normal operation. Because the machine was reported level and the inlet pressure was stated as 2.5 bar, levelling and excessive water pressure were considered unlikely. A possible explanation mentioned was steam or venting from hot washes, but this was not confirmed and was considered indicative of a design or machine fault if true.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was to pursue the issue as a warranty fault and insist the manufacturer repairs it properly. If this was not resolved, the recommendation was to contact the retailer and request an exchange because the machine was considered faulty. The exact repair was not confirmed in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Machine reported as levelled correctly
- Inlet water pressure stated as 2.5 bar
- Inlet tap was partially turned down on manufacturer advice, with no improvement
- No visible blockages seen in the dispenser area
- All three soap drawer sections were observed to fill freely when the drawer was opened slightly during fills
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

It definitely shouldn't leak from the soap dispenser. If it was levelling or water pressure it should leak on all washes - especially when rinsing. They need to sort it properly. Steam from the hot wash should vent out somewhere, if they've designed it to vent out from the front of the drawer by any chance and it is causing water to drip out then I'd say that's a design flaw.
If it's under guarantee and you know it's properly level and the water pressure isn't too high (it should be able to cope with all water pressures it comes across if properly designed) then you need to insist they come and fix it properly and they stop fobbing you off, or contact the retailer and say you want an exchange under the sale of goods act because it's faulty and they cannot fix it.
