Sludge Marks After Washing
I have a LG Direct Drive washing machine and have been seeing sludge type marks on clothing after washing on normal temperature washes.
I have cleaned the machine on 95 degree washes with bleach but problem persists.
Is this a machine fault of a drainage type fault?

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Sludge marks on clothing after wash likely due to internal gunge build-up
- The problem
- An LG Direct Drive washing machine was leaving sludge-type marks on clothing after normal temperature washes. A 95°C cleaning wash with bleach had already been tried but the problem remained.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply supports internal gunge/grease build-up inside the washing machine, including possible build-up behind the door seal. A drainage fault was not confirmed in the discussion.
- What fixed it
- Repeat the high-temperature cleaning treatment, as more than one cleaning cycle may be needed. Check behind the door seal for gunge. The discussion also notes that if the machine is seriously contaminated internally, the residue can be very difficult or impossible to remove. The exact repair beyond further cleaning was not confirmed.
- Checks to try
- 95°C cleaning wash with bleach already carried out
- Check behind the door seal for gunge
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Bleach

I have an article on washing comes out dirty or with marks on it although you may have already read it if you've tried the boil wash. You may need more than one treatment. Check behind the door seal for gunge. If the machine is seriously gunged up inside it can be very difficult or impossible to remove it. ( what causes grease, gunge and smells inside washing machines? )
