Hoover 1300 Will Not Spin Up On Spin Cycle
Hi I have read the Hoover 1100 problems similar to this and disconnected the pressure switch tube, no change. The machine is emptying, it starts to try and spin up, I hear a relay click then click again and it stops for a few moments and tries again. Motor is working in both directions. Any help appreciated.

Hoover 1300 would not spin up and later lost drum rotation
- The problem
- The Hoover 1300 was emptying and attempting to start the spin cycle, but it clicked, stopped, paused, and then tried again. The motor was initially reported to run in both directions. After further checks, the pump then seemed to stop, the machine filled with water, and the drum stopped rotating altogether.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply suggested the most likely cause of the original spin problem on this older machine was the pressure switch operating because the water was not draining away quickly enough, with reduced pump flow being a common reason. A later reply suggested worn carbon brushes as a possible cause once the drum stopped rotating, but this was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- No repair was confirmed. The accepted advice was to consider whether the machine was draining fast enough, as poor pump flow could prevent fast spin. The original poster decided not to pursue repair and indicated they would replace the machine.
- Checks to try
- Pressure switch tube was disconnected with no change
- Machine was reported to be emptying initially
- Motor was reported to work in both directions initially
- Later, the pump seemed to have stopped
- Machine filled with water and the drum then stopped rotating altogether

Is it an old machine? On the older machines if you heard a click and then it stopped just when it should have gone into fast spin it was usually the pressure switch clicking. There isn't normally a relay involved on spin. Is it emptying the water out fast enough? Reduced pump flow often caused this problem.

Hi, the machine is about 8 years old I seem to remember. I heard the clicking with the pipe from the pressure switch disconnected, the pump was working but now seems to have stopped, the machine fills with water and the drum has stopped rotating at all! Time for a new one.
If the drum's stopped rotating it could be quite a lot of things, the most common is worn carbon brushes
