Not Recognising The Door Is Shut

Hi

My washing machine is not recognising that the door is shut it shuts ok but the door lock light still flashes any ideas anyone

The door lock could be faulty, or the door might not be activating the lock because something on the catch is worn, loose or broken, or something could be preventing the door closing properly.
