Washing Machine Extreme Spinning Error
Last night my Bosch washing machine suddenly started making the most incredible noise during a fast spin.
It was on a 30 degree synthetics program and doing its final spin.
I live in a bungalow and the washing machine is right in a room at the furthest end of the house - I can't normally hear it even on fast spin.
But last night - even with the TV on loud we heard this incredible shaking noise - we thought it was the heating gone in to overdrive but in fact on investigation the Bosch was spinning at such turbo charged speeds that it was making a racket.
However no rumbles or grinding noises - nothing to suggest bearing issues - its literally like someone came in and souped up the 1000RPM motor and made it spin at 2000RPM!
Its an old machine - 15 years - max spin is 1000RPM. Always been reliable except once 5 years ago when it repaired due to a minor fault.
I unplugged it, turned it back on and today its working fine. Done two loads and spinning at the normal 1000RPM.
My questions are:
1) What may have caused this?
2) Its now working but is this a bad sign of things to come or a freak blimp?
3) Do I rush out now and buy a new ( Miele most likely ) machine or wait for full break down.
I like things that last so reluctant to throw in the towel ( as it were! ) on the machine and its a good little machine.
I checked the forums for similar issues but doesn't seem to be common.

I've not heard of a washing machine suddenly spinning faster but there is a fault that can cause the machine to lose control of the motor which causes it to run at spin speed during wash or rinse cycles. That would cause the machine to go a bit mental and thump around a lot. However, if you say it was on a final spin then it shouldn't be related to that. Apart from a possible badly balanced load that thumped around it's hard to think of anything that would cause it to actually spin faster.

Its a weird one - the load was fairly light - half a load of general clothes - nothing too big.
Its not done it since but I've decided to buy a new Miele W1 rather than wait for it to break.
Glad you went for a Miele, the 15 year old Bosch would have been very well made compared to a current Bosch, Miele is the only one currently built to a comparable quality.
