LG F1447TD5 Started walking + noise
I've had an LG direct drive washer for approx 5 years and it has been happy until now.
Recently it has started trying to break free and is wandering about round the kitchen. The loads are not unbalanced and I've made sure it is level. I've taken the top off and checked for usual things like broken or dislodged mounts & springs and turned the drum by hand to see if anything seems amiss. On the last couple of loads on the final spin cycle it has made a metallic sound as if there is a small coin or similar rattling around the drum, this only happens in the very last minute or two of the cycle. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

LG F1447TD5 walking on spin with intermittent metallic noise
- The problem
- An LG F1447TD5 washing machine that had previously worked normally began moving around the kitchen during spin. The owner stated loads were not unbalanced, the machine had been levelled, the top was removed, mounts and springs were checked, and the drum was turned by hand without anything obvious being found. A metallic rattling noise like a small coin was reported only in the final minute or two of the last spin cycle.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply suggested a coin or similar object stuck in or around the drum. This was presented as the most likely explanation for the intermittent metallic noise, but the exact fault was not independently confirmed in the thread.
- What fixed it
- Inspect for and remove any foreign object such as a coin that may be stuck in the drum area. The accepted advice warned that a trapped object could damage the drum and machine. The thread was marked solved, but no completed repair or owner confirmation of the exact fix was provided.
- Checks to try
- Confirmed loads were not unbalanced
- Machine was levelled
- Top removed for inspection
- Mounts and springs checked
- Drum turned by hand
Safety: If the source of the noise cannot be safely identified and removed, further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

A metallic sound coming and going could be a coin stuck in the drum. This could smash through the drum and kill the machine. If you think something is stuck inside check this article How to remove something stuck in washing machine
