Hoover WDYN 8154D - LCD Display/Circuit board issue?
Hi there
I've hunted high and low for any possible solution to this issue, including the FAQ here, but no joy.
The washer dryer is working absolutely fine in itself, but when you turn the dial to the off position, there is still a couple of lights on the LCD display that remain on even when it's turned off. They only disappear when the machine is switched off at the mains. My girlfriend can hear a high pitched hum when it's in the off position but I can't hear anything (no huge surprise).
I've contacted Hoover but the barrage of offers for warranty etc all suggests a potential fix would come at a hefty price. Before I go down that route, I wanted to see if anyone could assist? Hoover claim it's possibly a circuit board issue which would need looking at. I don't argue with that prognosis, but the sentence was automatically followed with their various deals.
Essentially, I wanted to get the opinion here on whether it is safe. I can handle having two lights showing when it's off, and the hum is virtually non existent. Is it something I should have seen to immediately? Does anyone have any advice on what I could possibly try to remedy it myself?
Thank you in advance..

I doubt anyone would be able to confidently say it's totally safe in case something is shorting or overheating. I can't see how you could do anything yourself either I'm afraid. Sadly most big repair companies these days have adopted the fixed price and insurance based model of repairs. It must be the only way they can survive with repairs being so expensive and new appliances so relatively cheap. It makes some repairs a lot cheaper but means all the repairs that would normally have been relatively low are now expensive. Fixed prices means most people pay more than it should be to subsidise the bigger repairs for others.
