If you take the belt off then spin the drum by hand from the front can you hear it?

Ok. With you saying initially that the noise stops when the belt is taken off it implicates the drum (or even the belt) but if it is clicking when you turn the motor by hand it sounds like a loose commutator on the armature - especially if combined with a smell of burning. Chances are the motor would need replacing.

Hi Andy ,

No there is no noise if i spin it from the front.

The clicking noise is coming from the motor even when i turn the spindle with the belt off.

The wife said she could smell burning when it was running.
