Bosch Washing Machine Drain Problem
I have a Bosch washing machine, Model WFO2866GB/01, about 12 years old. The problem I'm having is that the spin cycle wont work when there is water in the machine. It will spin if I drain the machine and when there is no water in it. I've checked and cleaned all the hoses and I'm certain there is no blockage. Thinking the issue must be the pump, I've replaced it, with the same result - will spin with no water, not if water is in the machine.
Additionally, of late, there has been a short delay (of up to a minute) between pressing the spin cycle button and the machine actually beginning to spin (when there is no water in it).
Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Bosch WFO2866GB/01 will not spin while water remains in drum
- The problem
- A Bosch WFO2866GB/01 washing machine, around 12 years old, would spin only after the water had been drained manually. It would not enter spin with water still in the machine. The owner had cleaned the hoses and replaced the drain pump, but the fault remained. There was also a reported delay of up to a minute before spin began when the machine was empty.
- Likely cause
- The accepted diagnosis was a fault in the pressure system, because the machine was reported to pump out water when drained, making the pump an unlikely cause. A motor fault was mentioned only as a possibility if the motor appeared weak, struggled to turn or sparked.
- What fixed it
- Recommended action was to investigate the pressure system rather than the drain pump. If the motor was visibly struggling or sparking, a motor-related fault was suggested as an alternative possibility. The exact repair carried out was not confirmed in the discussion.
- Checks to try
- Owner cleaned all hoses and reported no blockage
- Drain pump was replaced with no change
- Machine would spin when empty but not with water in it
- Reported delay of up to a minute before spin started when empty
- Parts or tools mentioned
- drain pump
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello RB. If the washing machine pumped out the water okay when you drained it can't possibly have been the pump. If the washing machine isn't able to pump the water out that's one thing, but if it won't spin when the water has gone then it's often caused by a fault in the pressure system. It's not straightforward though, have a look at this article Faults on pressure system
If by any chance the motor seems to be half-hearted or struggling to turn or sparking when turning then it might be a motor fault instead.
