I have recently moved in into a new house. Every now and then the washing machine (Hisense WFGE80141VM) gives us an E03 Error code. In the manual I can see it relates to this: Water filling error. I have already cleared the filter, checked the hoses and their filters - they are clean. Am I right to think that the problem lays with the pump? When the program starts the washing machines takes the water but then it discharges it straight away.

Hi Rudy. If you just moved into a new house, and a new fault appears on your washing machine, then a problem with the plumbing is the first thing I would investigate. If the error code E03 is a water filling error, then this would be in line with my initial suspicions.

The first thing is to check is that the fill hose is not kinked, or that the tap is turned on fully. Bear in mind with the latter that the taps with a red or blue plastic lever can sometimes be faulty. They can appear to turn on, but the mechanism inside the tap does not move. This can be caused if the mechanism seizes up, and or the plastic lever is cracked or broken. This can mean that feel like you are turning the tap on and off, but only the lever is moving.

The easiest way to check is to put the washing machine on a wash cycle and when it starts to fill with water, open the soap drawer to see that a good flow of water is going into the washing machine. Try this on wash, then cancel the program and try it on a rinse cycle. If little or no water is going into the machine, then it needs pulling out and checking for the problems I mentioned. If the pipe does not seem to be kinked, then turn off the tap, undo the hose from the washing machine, and point it into a bucket or bowl or the sink and turn the tap on to check that you have got a good flow of water.

Hello Rudi. I gave quite a comprehensive answer, covering most possibilities, but reading your question again and thinking about the fact that you said it only happens every now and again, it may be more related to low water pressure. If the water pressure is low, but the washing machine can cope, but every so often if water is drawn elsewhere in the house at the same time, it could potentially drop temporarily even lower and cause the washing machine to timeout on fill.
