Another Not Spinning Problem

Had this for a couple of months this time. What is different to the usual 'no spin' problem, is that it always starts to spin, you hear a second or two of the acceleration, and then it stops! Very annoying. The filter seems clear. Have blown through the output hose, and it seems clear, except the bubble of a little excess water at the bottom, I suppose. It is TRICITY BENDIX WASHER 1000. Any ideas? Is it the kind of thing to repair relatively cheaply? Or is it a 'may-as-well-get-a-new-one' job? Thanks for any advice.

If it does this every time, no matter what load is in then it sounds like the kind of fault that could be several different things. There's some general advice about it in the link below. If it only does it sometimes it could be an out of balance loading problem - either a fault on the system or the washer is detecting the load isn't balanced properly. Other than that it could be anything from a motor fault to a pcb fault and anything in-between.

Washing machine won't spin just one item or very small loads

Washing machine won't spin or drum won't go round
