Not Getting Up To Speed On The Final Spin

Hi
My washing machine is currently not getting up to speed on the final spin of any of the wash cycles which means the clothes stay soaking wet and the cycle never finishes. I want to get it fixed but don't want to get ripped off. Could someone suggest what the most likely reasons would be for this sort of malfunction?
