In the last week this washing machine has stopped heating the water - I can tell this because I have an energy monitor that is only showing a slight increase in consumption during all parts of the cycle (0.5-1.0kwh compared to up to 3kwh before) during usage, plus the door glass is stone cold throughout the cycle, even on a 90degree cycle (before last week, even on a 30degree it would warm a small amount)
I am unsure how any fault codes would be displayed, the machine has an LCD text display (when I once turned the machine off with the water supply off a message appeared to this effect so I would expect some kind of feedback to any problems on here) but there is nothing different showing to the normal progress of a cycle and no [different] flashing of the other LEDs. There is also no real difference in the time the cycles take to complete (compared to a week ago when it did seem to be heating up as normal).
The model number is WFR3267GB/04 and it is branded Bosch Logixx 1600 Express. I can not think of anything unusual that has happened in the last week.

I think there's an anomaly which can allow this condition as it shouldn't happen. If the heater doesn't work the pcb should detect that the water isn't warming up and trigger an error code. Failing that the thermostat (or NTC sensor) should never get triggered either causing the machine not to move on from wash or trigger another error code.
If a washing machine is taking the normal time and completing the cycle as normal it should be working ok but if it's definitely not heating up the water it makes no sense. (troubleshooting not heating water)

I took the front off the machine and noticed one of the two wires leading to the sensor next to the heating element was loose. In fact when inspecting the sensor, its other wire came away very easily. After reattaching them the machine works fine. Shorting the wires produced a "temperature too hot" message but when there is no circuit there is no message and no heat.
Hopefully this may prove useful to some.

A paperback book got scooped up with the washing and I'm sure you can imagine; after the wash finished (and didn't drain!), it was entirely internally coated with paper mache!
I took all the piping apart and flushed out the paper from everywhere.
Afterwards, it seemed to work BUT it now doesn't heat properly (it seems to try) and as a result just seems to keep washing with '1 minute to go' forever (I waited an extra hour). It even seems to add extra time after sitting on one minute for about 15 mins.
I have checked the heating element - no problem.
I have pulled out the heating element - all nice and clean - no paper mache left.
I can only assume that something either got bust during the paperback recycling wash, or something remains blocked.
The pressure switch must be working as it fills to the correct levels.
Very confusing....what to check!
I did try pouring hot water into the tub manually through the soap tray and one I'd added a few jugs, it moved on and correctly went on to rinse and spin.
Clearly the cycle is stuck due to lack of heating. I cannot fathom why it isn't heating though..
dca860: The only thing that could get blocked from such an incident is the pump or its filter. It may be possible for something like paper mache to enter the pressure chamber though I've never heard of a blocked pressure chamber by anything other than a build up of gunge. Besides, a blocked pressure system would result in overfilling.
I wonder if some paper mache could be stuck to the NTC (thermostat) sensor?
