Spin Problems With Washing In
Hiya.
I have had a look around the site and tried a few of the suggestions
to fix my washing machine but nothing that i have tried (or understood)
have solved my problem as yet.
My washing machine has decided that it doesn't like to spin when there is washing inside. It will do a full cycle when empty. It will turn and it will do a slow spin, it will turn one way then the other, i guess trying to rebalance the load, then try to build up speed but no matter how much washing is inside it just wont continue into the fast spin part of the cycle. it stops and two lights flash, the Start light and the prewash
one.
After taking the top off the machine, i can see that with clothes
inside, the drums moves a lot during the spin (when its trying to get
going) but when empty it sits very centrally with hardly any movement.
I have looked over the hoover washing machine troubleshooting and i can't see anything to help of there either.
I have taken the filter out, it was fine. Checked that the springs and belt are ok and both seem to be. Checked that the water pipe in and out aren't blocked.
There are what sort of look like shock absorbers under the drum and they move up and down.
I have tried doing the cycle with a slow spin speed (700rpm) but it still wont do a full spin part of the cycle. I'm not an expert (obviously) but if anyone could give me any other ideas on how to fix it i would really appreciate it.
UPDATE:
It has now as we speak decided it will do a half load on a spin speed of 900, when spinning at full speed the drum is fairly stable but during the slower speeds seems
to rock back forth and side to side.

There are 3 articles on my common washing machine faults page which might help, The first one is regarding error codes indicated by lights, which explains that the technical books don't actually name the lights for engineers, they usually say LED 1 and LED 3 flashing etc so if you report which numbers they are I may be able to see what error it's reporting.
Secondly, it sounds very much like the loads are out of balance (unless something's gone drastically wrong), when the drum turns round for a minute or two prior to spin it's trying to settle the laundry, if the drum swings around this indicates an out of balance load and most machines will either refuse to spin it or only spin at a reduced safer speed. Have a good read of these two article which talks in depth about loading a washing machine and related problems -
Washer jumps around and bangs on spin
Won't spin just one item or small load

Sorry for the delay in replying. On the Hoover Nextra, the Start and Pause LEDs flash together to indicate an error code and you need to count the flashes, which should flash in a cycle with a slight pause then repeat in a 15 second cycle. The flashes should add up to anything from 0 - 11 though how they can flash no times is a mystery.

HIya Andy,
My machine has several lights in rows so im not sure which number they are. The bottom four lights are on buttons. The top five are just lights.
Below is the layout of the lights

XXXX
Its is the first light on the top row and the first light on the bottom row that flash when the machine stops as shown in red
Hope this makes sense to someone?
Thanks in advance.
