Removing Door Seal On Hoover A2142 Washer
I wonder if you can help me? My new wave washer (A2142) recently started to show the E1 error code during every wash. I checked the eco ball and the pump, and the water is filling into the machine ok. When I put the washing machine to cold wash it runs ok. How do I get the door seal off to check the heating element as it is fitted at the front of the drum? When I had a Hoover engineer out about 5 years ago he told me that this type of wshing machine was developed to be maintained from the front so I will need to remove the front panel to gain access to the heating element.

Make absolutely sure the washing machine is disconnected from the mains supply
Take off the plastic clamp band that's holding the door seal on by inserting a small screwdriver under it and gently pulling while at the same time sliding it round clockwise
Unpeel the door seal from the door frame
On the front panel there are 3 screws near the kickstrip. Then undo the 2 screws holding the door interlock on
The panel will now drop down and come away on a Hoover new Wave washing machine

You can try using the washing machine without it. It's job is to hold the door seal firmly in place and stop it coming undone at the front. If it comes away at any point the door may not close properly.

Thanks for all your help. When I went to remove the wires from the heating element one of the ternimals fell off in my hand. So a quick trip to Halfords and £0.20 later my machine is working great again apart from 1 small problem. When I removed the white plastic ring round the rubber door seal I managed to break it (I think it may have been brittle). Do you know if i can still get 1 of these. and can I still use the washer without it?
