Hoover Door Hinge Broken

The door hinge on my mother's 18 month old Hoover washer has broken. I can easily remove the door, but I can't work out how to remove the hinge from the door to replace it. I've tried undoing the four screws on the reverse of the door, but I still can't get the door apart to remove the old hinge. Is there a special way to replace the hinge? It's a die cast hinge.

Hoover washing machine door hinge replacement requires splitting the door halves

The problem
The door hinge on an 18-month-old Hoover washing machine had broken. The door could be removed, but it was unclear how to separate the door to remove and replace the die-cast hinge.
Likely cause
Broken door hinge. The accepted reply indicates the hinge is accessed by separating the two halves of the door.
What fixed it
Remove the door, then separate the two door halves by inserting a small screwdriver between them and gently prising them apart, sliding the screwdriver around the edge to release the door all the way round. This gives access to remove the old hinge and replace it.
Checks to try
  • The four screws on the reverse of the door were undone
  • Door can be removed from the machine
Parts or tools mentioned

The door is in two halves. Separate them by inserting a small screwdriver between them and gently prizing apart. Once inserted, slide the screw driver round to separate all the way round.
